Online Dating Coach Advice: Try Something New, and I mean REALLY Different

When we pursue Online Dating with single using the internet personals, most often we are doing so to find love with PRECISELY where WE are now.

And I have to say in my early 30s in the EARLY Neanderthal days of Internet Personals and finding love online, that’s what we did.

yes, those were THE DARK AGES before we could attach jpegs, pix of us, to our Online Dating Profiles.  Really, those WERE blind dates.  But indeed, by doing so, we got LOTS of good practice and really DID only meet for coffees and drinks for Date 0 aka Date Zero, First Dates: Your first date meeting when you two have met via an internet dating site.

Then we all got SO serious about getting Into a RELATIONSHIP over simply the romance of meeting and dating a number of different singles we wouldn’t ever have met naturally and organically living our current lifestyles.

I must find THE ONE.  So much pressure.

And then I remember seeing the cute Romantic Comedy, “Must Love Dogs.”  Now, this is not THE GREATEST movie out there.  And in some ways, I prefer, “The Shop Around the Corner” 3rd remake with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan for displaying the early days of Online Dating which started really in chat rooms and internet forums.  In “Must Love Dogs,” Stockard Channing’s character is the one to watch to LEARN something.

She was using DIFFERENT Online Dating Sites to post DIFFERENT and I mean REALLY different profiles with the Internet Personals.  Like in one she was a Country Western lover, another a Bibliophile.  Etc.  TOTALLY different personas.  And she made some point about how doing so allowed her to explore and fulfill DIFFERENT ASPECTS of HER PERSONALITY.

She was EXPLORING and treating life, love, sex, and romance as an adventure.

Isn’t that how you want to approach life?  As an adventure to be LIVED?

So, go out and follow suit.

Try something REALLY different that is within YOU.

I am talking about being truthful here. It’s about bringing some aspect of yourself more fully forward and emphasizing that attribute of yourself.

Explore a facet of yourself that you would love to surface.  And by doing so, you will increase the likelihood of meeting INTERESTING people whom you want to be friends and lovers with.  And THOSE are the ones you will want to spend your life with.

And have FUN!

Happy Dating and Relationships,
