It seems every holiday season that if you’re one of the millions of singles in North America that you have been on the receiving end of well-intended and well meaning family members inquiries as to your social life. In your family which relatives keep asking you…

  • Are you seeing anyone?
  • Do you have a boyfriend?
  • Are you seeing any nice girls?
  • I know a nice girl…
  • My friend Maureen has a nice single grandson you should meet….

All of which leads up to the all important singles social occasion of the December Holiday season: New Year’s Eve!

The singles dreaded social pressure question is, “do you have a date for New Year’s Eve?”  As well as the other variation, “WHO is your New Year’s Eve date?”

It can almost leave you wanting to go stick your head in the sand and give up on all socializing with all of that singles social scrutiny.

Does this describe the relationship phase you’re in right now?
What if you have only been on a few dates with the person you only just recently met?  Perhaps it is really too early in the phases of your relationship to have segued into courtship and spending the special occasions of the year together.

What are you to do?

Be your own New Year’s Eve Date!

There are so many singles events and dances scheduled for New Year’s Eve that you could even use the occasion as an opportunity to get out and meet some new people in case you do not yet have that special someone identified for yourself this year.

It would behoove you to make better use of your dance card to get out and meet other new men and women than to stick yourself with just one date for the evening who may only have been your date of one or two dates.

Better for you to keep your options open and leverage the social scene occasion of New Years and all of the NYE parties, dances, and celebrations than to saddle yourself with Mr. Not Right and Ms. Partially Right for a whole long evening.

  2. In the local Senior Center
  3. At the local hotels
