Dating Tips for Savvy Single Women – Tap Into Seasonality

Are you a smart and savvy single woman?  You are then likely already making some concerted efforts to meet single guys and look your best often.  Do you make the most of your time?  You’ve got a great job and are super busy, right?  So, what are some of the most effective and efficient uses of your time to position yourself well and meet guys?

Seasonality

You want to use what marketers call “Seasonality.” With seasonality, you can make use of the events  and locations which are already at the front of people’s minds to your advantage.  One of the super cool benefits of taping into seasonality is you do not have to be the hostess and event planner.  You do not have to go to great organizational efforts.  And you can still benefit.

What are the current events and locations which draw men?  Yup, Sports Bars.  There is a huge selection of them and you do want to make use of them.  Right now in the month of April there are 3 major sports going on:  Basketball, Hockey, and Baseball.  There has even been the recent NFL draft.

Dating Tip  What to Look for in Selecting a Sports Bar – Variety

Look for a variety of sports being played on screen.  Even if you are a major fan of one sport, you might really hit it off well with someone who is a fan of another sport.  So make sure unless it is the final night of a play off game when the whole bar will be in an uproar, select a bar with multiple screens devoted to multiple sports.  Your fun enthusiasm over the basketball game can attract the attention of a guy watching the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Your display of enthusiasm gives him his conversation starter with you.  He can safely engage you in conversation about basketball and your team, confident he should be able to get a favorable conversational response from you.

Try this out tonight.  When you tap into the power of seasonality in your dating life, you position yourself to meet more great guys.  And all it takes is one great guy for all your efforts to have been worthwhile.  Go ahead and give it a try and then let me know by email or here at my dating blog how things went, OK?  And know I’m rooting for your dating success!

  1. I like that you continue to give great ideas and how you encourage singles to get out and get noticed. In this post it is great because it pushes singles to maybe get out of their comfort zone and try something new it also means that they may just make their lives more meaningful by giving a chance to be exposed to new and varied interest.

  2. Hi April, for those football fan in the Boston area I recommend the Sports Depot in Allston on Sundays during the NFL season. Multiple games on TV simultaneously. Men outnumber women 50-1. Good odds for the single ladies. Demographics: 21-45 (I’m too old to go, so you’re safe! lol)

Tips (not to be taken TOO seriously):

    1. Know something about the sport you’re watching.
    2. If you read a score, the team that’s winning is mentioned first (20-17, not 17-20)
    3. Do not expect to meet a Rhodes Scholar…it’s a sports bar.
    4. Smile
    5. Drink heavily… we get better looking at closing time.

  3. Excellent advice on a non-intimidating way to meet people!

Now being you’re a hockey fan, do you have any dating advice for hockey players who always wind up in the penalty box? 🙂

Couldn’t resist…knowing you, there’s probably 7 tips you have on how to get a date while serving a 5 minute major.

  4. One of the biggest gaining sports is mixed-martial arts, like UFC. It can be pretty brutal, but on championship fight nights, all the bars are packed to the rafters with guys. Of course, if you don’t like blood, then maybe this isn’t a good sport to watch.

I guess there are all sorts of events that draw men. Car shows, bike rallies, and air-shows are three that come to my mind. You’d probably find me at an air show.

  5. I have been telling women this for YEARS!!!!

I am glad that a woman finally came out and said it to.

Maybe it’s too cliche not to meet anyone at a bar.

I am sure if a woman were to go to a sports bar should would be talked to so many times.

Maybe she can practice an “oops i spilled my beer on you.” routine and then introduce herself to someone she is interested in.

    have fun meeting more people.

  6. Yes, sports is a great place to meet and talk to guys (even if you don’t have any romantic intentions). Do you think it is a good idea for single and non single women to get to know more about a variety of sports so that when they talk to sports loving guys they sound intelligent or at least ask intelligent questions?

  7. I love the idea of “seasonality” …I had not thought of that! I think of it in decorating or in jewelry, but not in meeting people. Great idea…keep them coming, April.

  8. April –

    What a great idea!!!

How did your trip to the sportsbar work out for you?

Are your friends willing to do this?

I always like it a little bit to see a lady who enjoys sports and knows a little bit about the game…especially when it’s more than me…

Then I can make her my new “Personal Announcer”…lol

  9. April…I definately agree that sports bars are a great place to meet. Many girls are intimidated because they don’t know sports…but one, if you do know sports you are that much cooler..two if you don’t at least they can hang out at a place you like ….and you get to drink and watch the game…a win win..

  10. Hi April, seeing dating and seasonality together. I had never thought of that before for more ways to meet single guys. thank
