Regular readers of my dating and relationship help advice blog may have seen me regularly recommending that singles attend the Political Groups mixer events. This Thursday evening, September 8, 2011, the San Diego Young Republican’s are hosting their monthly mixer at the Playa Grill in Mission Valley. The SDYRs host a monthly happy hour at a local business the second Thursday of the month each month.

One of the reasons I mention these events each month when I possibly can is because repeated exposure increases both your comfort level in terms of breaking the ice and conversing with strangers. Additionally psychology experienments demonstrate that repeated exposure increases our attractiveness to others. So don’t go just once, not meet the great love of your life with like-minded political beliefs and life values, and then throw your hands up in the air defeated and exasperated that “this just doesn’t work” because of your experience with having attended only one single time.
Instead, select focused well-targeted groups and associations which reflect your values to frequent like the San Diego Young Republicans Monthly Mixer. And sprinkle on top of it a periodic attendance to events which stretch yourself a little.
