SoCal Singles Scene: LDS Christians Singles Dance in Riverside and Ice Breaker Tips
At the Southern California singles workshops I lead in Orange County and Los Angeles, singles are always asking me for special secret tips for where to easily find and meet other available singles. One of the best places for singles to meet is at a Singles Dance. When you attend a singles dance, you know that pretty much everyone else who is there is also single, available and looking. However, the whole ambiance feel of the place and event is one of comfortable casualness. You can easily meet, chat, and dance with each other. It gives singles something to do with all the nerves all people feel at times.
The LDS Christian Singles as a whole are one of the top two Christian Church Denominational Groups who I see are still quite actively promoting singles events for where Christian Singles can meet. Both the LDS and the Catholic Church are doing quite a number of Christian Singles groups. Sadly, most of the Liturgical and Evangelical churches have dropped their Christian Singles Ministries and are leaving it all to their Christian Single congregants to do all of the casual Potential Mate locating, connecting, dating, courting, and relationship building on their own.
What’s the problem with that?
Outside of Undergraduate College/University and Grad School, life where we are all en mass quite a lot of similar singles around the same age with at least some similarities it is quite challenging for singles to meet and become well-acquainted sufficiently to foster and create a marriage relationship.
Just “getting married” is not the same as developing and considering all of the attributes of a long lasting love marriage relationship. I mainly cite the LDS Christian Singles Dances throughout California. However, there are other social gathering which the area groups sponsor to develop a relationship over time and consider all of the healthy relationship habits we all need to nurture and sustain a marriage long term.
Conversation Ice Breaker to Use at Singles Dances:
Is this your first time here?
Did you come to the dance with friends?
- Yes, Oh, where are they? I’d enjoy meeting all of them as well and introducing them to some of the regulars.
- No? Oh you came on your own. How excellent. Here, let me introduce you around to some of my friends and the regulars who come to the dances and our events.
Either way, you help to weave new people into the group of other singles. You avoid coming across as an exclusive clique, which every group however well-intended can often do. We are all human. Typically it is really inadvertent.

April 17, 2012 at 12:12 PMHi April!
Those kind of events are not promoted ( that I know) in the catholic churches.
I think it could be a very good idea to implement here 😉

“Comfortable casualness”…what great words, they should be reassuring to anyone who has not yet attended a singles dance. I went with a friend the first time, but was very comfortable going by myself after that…and met SO many nice people of both sexes and had such fun times!
