With the largest Independence Day Parade this side of the Mississippi River just down the road on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH to locals) in Huntington Beach, CA, Newport Beach’s 4th of July celebration festivities seem much smaller by comparison.
However, when what you’re looking for to honor Independence Day is a parade that is more on the water than on the roads, look no further than the American Legion’s Old Glory Boat Parade which is off of Balboa Island. The Huntington Beach parade is in the morning of Monday, July 4th. But the Boat Parade runs in the afternoon time.

Yes, there are categories, so boaters and observers can have fun.
Before you see all the amazing holiday patriotically decorated boats, start your holiday morning celebrating the day and honoring our nation’s heroes at the community pancake breakfast which runs from 7:00 am – 11:00 am at the American Legion Post 291. (215 East 15th Street, Newport Beach, CA)
Between the community pancake breakfast and sipping a G&T while watching the typically over 100 boats sailing through the harbor and enjoying the relaxed nautical festivities which are so quintessential to Newport Beach, Orange County based singles can surely find a casual and comfortable way to meet and connect with others and just maybe a few other singles on the 4th of July Independence Day holiday.
Just be sure to keep it to one or two G&Ts so you can stroll on down PCH and enjoy the fireworks display in Huntington Beach in the evening.
