Long Beach Democratic Club Hosts BBQ

I am actually much more familiar with the Young Republican mixers having been a member of the San Francisco Young Republican club back when I lived there, including, as a result of my attending, expanding my social circle and activities with other members. Plus with my own political leanings towards “Leave My Liberty Alone, Let Me Do It Myself,” and “Stop Stealing My Money, I prefer to Donate It Where I Want Myself, Not the Government, Thank You,” kind of self-actualizing person that I am, I keep track of and just personally follow and am just much more aware of what the Young Republicans are doing than Democrats or Young Democrats are up to.  I haven’t really seen any Young Libertarian events, or I’d be citing them and sharing them with you here at my dating relationships blog.

However, I do, of course keep an eye out for Democratic social events to help out singles from all over to meet and practice social skills easily at a variety of events for singles in Los Angeles and Long Beach Southern California as well as those in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California.

This Saturday, October 1, 2011, The Long Beach Democratic Club is hosting it’s annual “Democratic Unity BBQ” at Bixby Knolls Park. This Long Beach Democratic Club event offers area Democrats and their friends an opportunity to meet and connect with each other as well as to meet various elected leaders and hear about party updates.   Did I mention plus enjoy some yummy BBQ? I imagine that will be a barbeque sauce and not a dry barbeque rub.  I do apologize that I can’t provide you with the precise To/From TIME of the event.  It’s not on the LB Dem’s website.  And their email contact has not yet responded to my request.  Should I hear from them prior to the event, I will be sure to update my post.  I’m guessing the soiree is in the evening, but I could be wrong.  Perhaps it is an afternoon event. The Young Republicans make it easy to attend their events by readily sharing the events details online. *sigh*

By the way, while the majority of my posts are targeting the singles to help them date better and find lasting love, all the events which are not specifically a singles event can be very good for married couples to attend as well.  When you’re married, often your lives can get into a rut.  Become involved in life outside of your immediate social circle.  Attend some political mixer events and meet some new people.  Try a new restaurant or two in your area.  Drive for dinner a few towns over than where you always go for a burger.  Which then leads me to a fun BBQ in Long Beach.

Long Beach in Southern California is this wonderful and interesting city.  It is technically in Los Angeles county.  However, it is so close in proximity to Orange County that a lot of the singles and folks in The OC will spend a lot of time in Long Beach.  It’s not like driving all the way up to Los Angeles proper.  You don’t have to deal with the dreaded 405 interchange (no, no, not that.  anything but that. for non area folks reading my blog, it has dreadful and I mean dreadful traffic jams just about always).

Long Beach has such a strong history of connection with the Navy branch of the military that there is still that feel to it even though the Naval presence is vastly diminished now.  Areas of Long Beach have been massively cleaned up.  The downtown area is quite charming.  There are tons of parking garages which is imperative for going out in the evening in SoCal.

The area combines both completely unique locally owned, run, and operated restaurants with national franchise chain restaurants as well.  And of course there’s that glorious harbor marina views from many of the restaurants.

If your restaurant doesn’t feature such a view, you can still enjoy the Habor View.  After your meal,  just give yourselves a little extra time when you’re in Long Beach for an evening and plan to walk over to Marina and take a stroll hand in hand with your date.

Perhaps your date is your spouse.  In which case do be sure to smooch in public along the Marina sidewalk and make the teenagers blush and take note that THIS is how real romance is done!
