To pick up on my post from yesterday, how would YOU describe the phenomena of how American Singles actually date to someone from say a Tribal African culture? The whole process of dating, mate selection, and courting is particularly American and Western.
How would you explain our mate selection and courtship process to someone from a complete different culture which is not remotely like ours?
A culture not REMOTELY Western.
How DOES the native quadishy bird mate?
That’s us.
The native quadishy bird.
First the female of species dons colorful eye-catching feathers that plump up and visually enhance her plummage feathers…. (aka single women know that single men are visually stimulated, so we wear push up bras that well-display the girls….)
The she flits over to the local bird bath where there are many of the men and women of the native quadishy bird species.
PLACEMENT!
She goes and HANGS where single men will SEE her.
Then she sings a little to be noticed.
The male of the quadishy bird species is plumping up HIS chest feathers, too, but it is in more of a chest BEATING manner, n’est pas?
This is the body language of men and body language of women in a romantic mate-selection fashion.
I actually DEMONSTRATED some of the courting body language, taking her hand, leading her through a crowd, and one of the men then demonstrated the body language of hand holding to be in the dominant position with how you hold hands.
OK, so we did this in the corner of the Las Vegas airport and YES others WERE watching.
Without actually connecting our lips, I even demonstrated some of the body positioning of kissing a lady.
The guys then asked the man observing from the sidelines if he thought that what I was saying was on target, and he nodded yes.
Indeed, what I demonstrated was a bit more courtly and old fashioned (sort of start with the formal rules and loosen up from there) and indeed, leveraging that manly body language which CHERISHED me utterly was definitely part of how and why my late husband landed me for is wife.
It’s Friday night and I am IN and it is GLORIOUS. I did have OTHER options but after all that time AWAY I wanted to bond with my couch again. It wanted to know who I was when I returned (hey stranger).
Happy Dating and Relationships,
April Braswell
