An important dating advice tip which I recommend both to single men and single women, whether they met their date via an internet dating site or in their offline “real” lives, is to make an effort to collect cool and interesting restaurants in their area. Especially for ensuring a good and memorable first date, you want to aim to meet for Drinks and Apps or dinner at an interesting restaurant. It is preferable to avoid the giant chain restaurants. However, in certain suburbs and metro areas, chain restaurants is pretty much the only option. That’s OK. Just, when you can, aim to identify unique restaurants which are run and owned locally. You will often find the ambiance more intriguing and sophisticated, the crowd more mature, and the service and food uniquely wonderful.

One such restaurant in the Los Angeles and Orange County area are of Southern California is El Cholo®. El Cholo® actually is a small chain. Namely, it was so successful that they had to open some additional locations to meet the demand and not have people having to drive over 50 miles to get a location. However, El Cholo® is a small local chain.
Not only is the food really good high quality Mexican fare, it tastes very fresh and delicious. The wait staff dresses in authentic Mexican garb, the women in ric o rack, that zig zagging trim, on their Mexican blouses and full skirts. The wait staff is always available and highly responsive.
The house drink is their Lemonade Margarita. Now, you might be like me and initially not want that drink because normally I enjoy the traditional sweet and sour mix margarita. However, if it is a strong and flavorful margarita you want, you would be doing yourself a disservice to overlook ordering their Lemonade Margarita. Just be forewarned, this puppy is STRONG. Sipping one the whole night might just fit your first date requirements. On a first date a touch of alcohol can be fine. Getting soused can leave you vulnerable for dating disasters not to mention a potential DUI citation.
The history of El Cholo® includes the frequenting by Old Classic Hollywood glamour stars, Loretta Young, Bing Crosby, Gary Cooper, and Harold Lloyd. It is the world’s largest user of Cuervo 1800 Tequila and the first to introduce using premium ingredients in their yummy margaritas. When you enjoy your Lemonade Margarita, you’ll understand what I mean.
For singles meeting for a first date meeting from online dating, if you don’t want to have dinner yet together and only Drinks and Apps, El Chollo® has a lovely bar area with quite a lot of casual seating where you and your date and sit, sip, and flirt!
If you live outside of the Orange County and Los Angeles area and cannot make it to one of the El Chollo® locations, use this wonderful SoCal landmark to inspire you to find something unique and marvelous in your area and impress your date. As a relationship success tip, long term relationships which thrive and remain vitally loving show that you need to continue to weave in elements of newness and interest. Having a range of such restaurants to share a romantic meal together helps you to do so.

I like small independent coffee shops in the downtown area of small to mid-ssize towns!

April,
This is great advice, not only for singles but married folks who want to add a little romance to their lives. It is good for the local economy as well. It is fun to check out different establishments to find the best dessert, the best coffee, the best drink of choice, etc.
Make a list and keep it handy. You never know when you just might need that perfect dessert!
Make your life rich in every way.

April, I believe that you have brought up a great point, going to a surprise location makes a date cool. I think back to my best dates and they were to off the beaten path places.
Thanks for the reminder.

I’ve dinned out for years around my local area,so have a good idea of which restaurants are worth a visit.
great advice as usual and I agree, this is great for singles and couples. I love finding that little hole in the wall place to hangout with the husband…it’s the opposite of Cheers where nobody knows your name…

Yes, this is a great idea – taking your date to Micky D’s probably wouldn’t create the right impression.
If you can find them these days, a small, independent coffee shop might be good where a meal is not on the cards.

Nice restaurant review! One should always have a bullpen of restaurants and things to do in order to have a fun and exciting social life. We all need our old standby’s to fall back on.

Great tip! It’s way more fun to get together at a unique place with good food and drinks and good service. It also shows that you gave some thought to where you wanted to take or meet on your date.

I was in el Cholo! Not for a date…but i liked it very much!
It is a good tip to look for small restaurants and not chains! Maybe except if it a coffee shop. I don’t like most of the chains…they are very impersonal.
Very handy advice!
I like to take people to places in Vegas that don’t feel like Vegas at all.
Makes it a much more memorable evening!

It’s also good for us couples to find interesting places to go on a date. El Cholo sounds like a place I’d love.

Smaller restaurants are usually quieter than the big chains. I don’t like to yell when I am talking to my companion. This restaurant sounds wonderful.

Hi April, I like the idea of having a number of restaurants to choose from. I always prefer the kewl Mom and Pop hole in the wall place with great eats that just the locals know about.
El Chollo really sounds like a fun restaurant!
Hola,
Felicito, April, la idea admirable y es oportuno
April this is really a nice and helpful piece of information. I wish more single guys would practice this with where they ask me out. Only the chain restaurants can be so boring. I’m glad that you shared this helpful info with us. Please keep us informed like this. Thanks for sharing.
El Chollo is a fun local restaurant in Los Angeles county. Down here in Orange County, CA I think there is another location in Irvine. Great suggestion for dates, April.
Sounds like a good place for dates and I bet the bar is great for practicing reading the body language of women and other singles in Los Angeles area.
If the restaurant is so popular does the bar get crowded with single women? When it is very crowded it makes it difficult for guys to approach and talk2gurlz.
