Here in the United States, we will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday next week. Can you believe it is already that time of year?
Often singles will read the Feng Shui for Romance sort of articles and blogs thinking only of activating the energy in their Love and Romance sector (8 Mansions School of Feng Shui).
But what about your Kitchen?
With the Thanksgiving holiday before us, most of us will either be attending a family/friends Thanksgiving celebration at someone else’s house, or hosting this at our own dwelling. Over 71% of married couples met each other via their friends. As a single you certainly do want to leverage the Thanksgiving holiday to get out and celebrate, and reconnect with friends who maybe you haven’t seen for awhile.
One of the aspects of the Asian modality of Feng Shui is the energy and “luck” of Friendly Relationships. As you celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, you might follow the Southern tradition and visit with relatives in significant encore presentations of the Thanksgiving feast at other people’s houses over the course of the long traditionally four day weekend.
When you have people over, not only do you want your place to be welcoming, fun, and festive, you want to activate positive Feng Shui energy.
Some of the marvelous Feng Shui books discuss your Kua Number, the Period 8 influences, and activating love. However, I am focusing here on a more fundamental decluttering aspect of Feng Shui – Deep Cleaning Your Fridge in preparation of the Thanksgiving holiday.
There is Flying Star Feng Shui which brings in the Time Dimension. And many practitioners incorporate a monthly update or at least a quarterly update to their Feng Shui reading. Well, you need to apply those principles to one of the most important rooms in your dwelling, your kitchen. In the older Chinese dynasty days of Feng Shui the kitchen was a focal point because having enough food to eat and sustain yourself and your family was in greater jeopardy than it is now typically in Western culture. So often, we sort of neglect and don’t even think about the importance of your kitchen when you are single and planning out your Feng Shui layout of your personal space.
However, your kitchen and the food you eat sustains your body and the Friendly Relationships you have with others. Those many others who may be introducing you to your Soul Mate.
Now I’m going to get into the Truth of Refrigerators and it is not pretty.
When was the last time you cleaned out your fridge?
Never?
More than a year ago?
While you were Spring cleaning?
Well, it is a new quarter in the Season (Flying Star Feng Shui Time Dimension), and it is time clean out the Bad Stagnant Chi energy, cleanse things, and bring in new, wholesome Chi into all aspects of your life, including the life enhancing area of your kitchen.
Now the area which is most frightening is typically the area under your produce drawer. If you ever house and defrost meat in your fridge, in all likelihood meat juices and water dripped down to the bottom of your fridge and accumulated there. We won’t even discuss the smell. And what about the bag of items from CostCo which you are working your way through? The bag caught the drippings and now has both stagnant energy and foul smelling energy in it. None of which is wholesome. And none of which nourishes your relationships.
You will need to devote an hour to a thorough cleansing of your fridge. This is a great time to do this over the forthcoming weekend before you stock up on everything for the Thanksgiving holiday while your fridge is maybe only half or three-quarters full. Whether you are hosting Thanksgiving and will be inviting many people in to celebrate the day from your home or you are attending celebrations at multiple family members’ house bringing home marvelous leftovers, you want a clean fridge to welcome that food which will nourish you and your Friendly Relationships with others.
In Feng Shui, all of those relationships contribute to your Romance/Family sector. As you practice this principle, your extended relationships will improve and increase your chances of meeting your Soul Mate through your marvelous family, community, and friendship relationships.

Got to get that Chi flowing. 😉
Clean the fridge…what a great idea to do it now. I think we need to remove the mess and disorder to help with the flow of energy.

November 19, 2009 at 6:19 PMHi Darryl,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. lol. Isn’t that the truth? It’s funny, kinda like ironing, I actually like cleaning the fridge. I just need all the space and others not in the kitchen at the same time to do it. I find it very contemplative and meditative. And I pray and bless over it while doing it, that the food that goes in nourishes us, that the meals are fun and harmonious for family and friends… those sort of things.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours

Good to clear out & clean out the fridge for the season. It’s amazing how much food we waste per year.
My son attended his annual school dinner for his house last night. At his table of 10 students, he estimated that 3 kg of food gone thrown away because not consumed. No one eat the salad dish and he couldn’t eat it himself due to the mayonnaise which he’s allergic to.
It is an alarming bell to the next generation’s health.
Clear out the self and the fridge to take in the new stuff and new people.

November 20, 2009 at 5:50 PMThis is a great post. For me, a kitchen isn’t clean unless the fridge is too. I’m rather fastidious with my kitchen and bath.

November 22, 2009 at 5:07 AMOur fridges are tidy and clean, but our freezer…that’s a different story! The bad news is it’s not frost free and it’s been a while, so an ice axe and snow shovel will be required. The good news is I’ve got until just before Christmas as we’re not big on Thanksgiving here in the UK but will have a house full at Christmas. Thanks (I think!) for the great Feng Shui tip and reminder.

December 10, 2011 at 2:31 PMCan you imagine a potential mate opening your fridge? Would something hit him on the head when he opens the freezer? Is there only catsup and mayo in the fridge? Or worse, are there left overs from months ago? What is your fridge saying about how you would /could take care of him nutitionaly? I have read several old books on feng shui and I find that they enhance my life in so many ways.
