Easy Dating Tips for GETTING MORE DATES – Get Outta Here!
Do you feel like you are in a rut with meeting people?
Do you feel like, “April, I have met EVERYONE in my age demographic who is single in my town.”
Are you starting to get a whining quality to your voice as you say that?
There’s NO ONE.
Ohhhh, really?
Fine. Go with that belief. There is NO ONE in your town for you. I’m in COMPLETE agreement.
In which case, dear heart, it is TIME TO GET OUTTA HERE!
Personally? This weekend I am headed to Philly along with quite a number of the folks here.
In so doing, this is JUST another example of SHAKE THINGS UP!
Now part of what is so intriguing is that indeed, I MEET SF Bay folks on these flights. Of course, most often en route HOME. While flying I am not quite as garrulous as traveling sales people. With cross country flights I prefer to doze and to read initially on my flight. Then after I bit I might engage in light conversation with my seat mates.
Of course, there are OTHERS with whom to talk while flying. The Bar/Grill area is excellent. Sit at the counter rather than the table. In fact, do that at Denny’s etc. as well. Why? because you WILL meet more people that way!
Sitting waiting for your plane? Chit chat with your neighbors.
Also, a little Best Practice for Singles: ALWAYS sit next to a member of the opposite sex. Just position yourself ALWAYS like this. It will become YOUR HABIT. And what a great habit to develop.
Line up for coffee. At the Starbucks at the San Jose International airport, there is always a line. I have just never seen it fail. What does that mean for you as a single? What an opportunity! That means you have the perfect excuse just to break the ice and lightly chit chat talk with the others in line.
Seeing as you are at the airport, you already have several natural conversation starters. A divorced single guy fan was just asking me for some Easy Dating Tips to “start convos with chicks,” I mean women. You need both to break the ice by saying something. However by
“Is this the end of the line?”
“Wow, really? Have long have you been waiting?”
“that’s bad/not bad.”
“but I really like my coffee. And you? Are you getting a latte or a chai tea thing?”
“are you flying to or from home?”
“business or was this a vacation?”
“Did you have a good time? See anything special?”
If she is giving you short perfunctory responses, give it a rest after 2 or 3 sentences. We’re all just being polite.
But if she warmly opens up to you, well, go for 5 sentences and lob it back to her.
Murmer “really? you don’t say?” periodically.
If you think there is some RAPPORT, then when you get to the head of the line, offer to buy her that cup of coffee. See my post from Sunday for spontaneous coffee gaggles. 30 mins max. “Wow, I’ve really enjoyed meeting you Heather. I’d like to take you out on a real date if I may. Here’s my card. Can I get your number?”
Your giving her YOUR number is to create a feeling of safety for her. It is NOT that you are expecting her to initiate and phone her. You’re not being a wuss here. Your demonstrating your masculine protectiveness.
BTW, for all the single women reading this, just flip the questions to your benefit and be sure to give him your personal card before leaving.
I think that should get you going. I fly out EARLY Friday morning, so I will be away for a few days. In all likelihood, I will – gasp – NOT blog while away. I know my loyal fans will miss me. Just be patient, drink some coffee, and trust I’ll be back Monday!
Happy Dating and Relationships,
April Braswell

April 21, 2011 at 3:27 PMHola April. I like your dating tips for singles in the United States. Dating is so different there than it is here in Spain. You’re very creative.
