After 50 Singles Dating: Are the Odd Against You? Is It True All the Good Ones Are Already Taken?
For Singles over 50 years old sometimes it can feel like the odds are against you for finding a romantic love relationship. it can feel like “all the good ones are taken.” As a Personal Dating Coach, I often hear from mature single men and eligible women over 45 and 50+ years old, asking me,“Where are all the mature singles my age?”
Singles Dating After 50 Years Old: Where Are All the Mature Singles Hanging Out?
They pose this mature singles dating question to me like there is a one single hide out where all the mature singles over 45, 55, and 60 years old are all going to socialize and hang out together without them on a Sunday afternoon and evening, having a grand old time and they haven’t heard about it yet.
The Truth About Dating After 50 Years Old: Over 50 Singles Dating Challenges
The truth is, it can be tough. A lot of the singles mixers and singles social events often have an age cut off around 45 years old. What is a single woman or single man over 45 and over 50 years old to do? Lie about their age in order to attend a singles Speed Dating event with a 45 years old age ceiling cut off? And hope they ask to look at ID?
What Does This Mean for You as a Mature Over 45, After 50 Years Old Single?
The reality is, not all of the Over 45 and Over 50 year old singles are socializing and hanging out in just one or two venues the way that so many singles do in their 20s and 30s. Quite a number of the social options open to you as a single over 45 years old and over 50 years old will mean that you are one of many singles of your gender at the soiree. There will always be a few mature singles of the opposite gender at the event as well. Just know that sometimes the odds will be uneven. That doesn’t mean you should stop making an effort and attending events. Keep going! Do also aim to mix things up. Attend the singles mixers of different churches. Go to a number of varied social dancing events.
How to Behave at the Singles Social Events When the Odds Are Uneven?
When the numbers are uneven at a Singles Social Event, it can get nearly aggressive from either side. Refrain from doing that. There is no need to lunge and socially jump on the other singles. What should you aim to do instead? Do speak to all the opposite gender singles. Just aim to be confident, calm, poised and gracious when you do so. Avoid aiming to dominate their socializing and conversation time. Just spend a few minutes connecting genuinely and small talk briefly. Aim for 7 – 10 minutes. Exit and leave time and room for them to speak with others. If they are interested in you specifically, they will seek you out again. Come prepared to such events with a personal card so you can easily share your contact information with social poise and ease.

Thank you form bringing this up. Many people think that after a certain age romance is dead. Not true at all. After working with the elderly for so many years, I can assure you people are dating well into thier 80’s and 90’s! Great article.
