As a leading dating coach for Marriage Minded women and men, it can sound kind of odd to recommend Passion Week activities as singles events, doesn’t it? Well, many of my clients are Christian or at least Christian leaning.
However, for Christian singles in particular, and even those singles who just define themselves as spiritually minded and open to a life partner of a different faith, the church celebrations of Easter Weekend can provide you with a number of ways to comfortably meet other singles of aligned faiths and easily break the ice unto becoming at least social acquaintances. You might even be able to easily move that acquaintanceship then from friends to a date with comfort, confidence, and social poise.
Good Friday typically offers a number of options for celebration and worship. The Maundy Thursday host is consumed at a 7AM service early morning. You and the other early birds will be the only ones there. However, when you attend the early morning services, even just periodically, not just during Easter’s Passion Week, you have the marvelous easy transition either to join or to suggest, “Hey, let’s all grab a bite to eat around the corner.”
A little wafer and wine (or juice) won’t cut it for breakfast.
Come to the Service Already Prepared:
Before you head over to church, identify a bagel place or even a fast food chain location which is nearby. You can grab a coffee (might even qualify for the senior coffee discounted price!) and breakfast sandwich.
Later in the day, there is the noontime service. This is typically the longest service of the 3 possible services throughout the day of Good Friday, Easter Weekend of Passion Week. This is quite often when the traditional hymns are sung, my favorite being, “Oh Sacred Head Now Wounded,” which is only sung on Good Friday. Happy soprano that I am, I must wait another 365 days before I get to sing it if I miss the lunch time service on Good Friday. This service often goes as must as 3 or 4 hours. Not everyone stays past the first hour. You could chat with people, and offer to grab a quick bite of lunch together before heading back to your office, but this one is tougher to leverage because there is usually just simply more of a time crunch. So, alternatively, pass them your personal card and tell them you hope to see them Easter morning. “Are you coming to the Easter breakfast Sunday? Me, too! Maybe we can chat more then.”
Still later is the evening service. I’ll discuss that in an article later today. There’s so much to cover!
