Singles Want to Know If You Really Can Find Love Online and If Yes, How Can They Find The One for Them?
As a Midlife Dating and Relationship Coach to both men and women seeking a life long love relationship, people sidle up to me at conferences and workshops and ask me, “April, can I REALLY find love online?” And my answer is an emphatic, “YES! Yes, you really can find love online using Online Dating and Online Personals websites and even some of those fun Social Networking sites like Facebook.” [2019: Doing so on FB now is quite different than it was when I first wrote this article in 2008.]
And now we even have Twitter and Tweethearts! [2019: Approaching singles via IG and Twitter for dating purposes is also different now, 10 years later.]
And then naturally their next question is, “How? How do I find love online?”
That, dear one, is a longer answer.
Before you even actually POST YOUR ONLINE DATING PROFILE, you need to do some prep work.
Let’s look in the mirror. You DO have a full length mirror in your apartment, right? OK, good. So, take a look at yourself. How do you look? Do you look Your Best? Or does your image need some work? You may indeed need to do some major work like lose over 50 pounds. Or you may feel you would look better with longer hair.
But those changes take time, months in fact. The point is to jot those down as things you want to work on and improve in yourself, but you need to consider how can I change my image in the next 3 weeks to look my best because you are going to post your profile within the next 7-21 days.
As you improve yourself and your image, you are welcome to update your profile, and I certainly DO recommend you update your profile about once every 5-7 weeks.
However, we are talking about NOW and the short term, because the point is to start getting MORE DATES NOW. Not in 7 months or 2 years. NOW. Soon. Short Term. You are NOW moving into Action for your Goal of a fulfilling and committed Long Term Relationship aka LTR.
2019 Update: Before you post your profile and all those photos now, with the Tinder Effect, your primary profile photo and all your photos just became massively important to even get a response, let alone, a First Date. To learn all of what I have to say to help you do better with your dating profile photos, go grab your own copy of Get Swipe Right
