I have interviewed and spoken with both online single men and single women who are actively looking for a lasting love relationship on the internet. And the thing is both the men and women were seriously seeking a long term marriage oriented love relationship. Not just something short term and casual. And oh btw that is exactly what those online seeking single men and still single women did indeed find online. And intriguingly enough, they found it at a free dating personals site that you wouldn’t have thought of to consider at first blush: Craigslist.
Indeed, I know a number of the San Francisco Bay / Silicon Valley based single women who made a point of posting a short yet purposeful internet dating personals ADs and the very single man they creatively found and attracted became their fiance. Single ladies in particular, I raise this prospect to you for online dating. Single men are often just lightly shopping for furniture and other items at Craigslist. Aim to be and post your profile where the fish are!
There are different sections of the ads posted over at Craiglist. The problematic “Erotic Services” area where there were high risk behaviors and people has been discontinued at Craigslist. However CL also has a Personals ADs section. That is the area to use. Of course because it’s a free listing and site, you will get some totally non-matching responses. Simply ignore and block them like you would when unappealing single men approach you in real life. Of course, do practice safety behaviors to filter their emails and also in meeting men in person. Repeatedly women have had great responses from guys looking to date. When your ad is short and creative, you’ll enjoy a lot of responses from men and go on more first dates.

April 27, 2011 at 3:04 AMIt amazes me. Craigslist seems like such a classified ads-like kind of place. I think it’s cool that people can meet their match there.

April 27, 2011 at 5:14 AMCraigslist just feels more dangerous to me. Perhaps because of the well publicized murder of the young pastor’s daughter here. The other sites do at least some scrutinizing of the ads.

April 27, 2011 at 5:48 AMI’ve known women who put dating ads out on Craigslist and they’re always getting weirdos so they switch over to the paid sites like Match.com, etc….. Craigslist attracts weirdo’s, it’s known for it. I would never tell a friend to use craigslist, but that’s just my opinion….

April 27, 2011 at 10:55 AMI think I would be a bit hesitant to put any information on craigslist…I agree with Trisha that there is a negative connotation attached to personal ads posted there.

April 27, 2011 at 12:57 PMI am not familiar with Craiglist. I think probably is used very much in the States, but don’t know about Europe. I did not know it could be used for profiles. I don’t know, maybe I would prefer a site more for meeting people, but, why not try?
