I was just eating dinner at super romantic Parker’s Lighthouse in Long Beach, CA last night. Here in Orange County, CA, we often refer to Long Beach as “North Orange County” because it’s so super close to the county, it’s almost like it’s part of The OC. It is right on the water with gorgeous views of the Bay as well as the Queen Elizabeth docked in the Harbor. Simply delightful. It has this slightly old world, mid-20th century feel to it because of that genuinely nautical feel to it combined with their physical layout of their seating and service. Their wait staff is excellent, gracious, courteous, available and never rushing you. Which means when your date is inspired to reach across the table and kiss you, you have the room and the space to do so. The layout of the tables actually leaves plenty of space between the tables.
I have eaten at restaurants where the tables are so crunched together I was seated closer to my table neighbor than I was to my date who was seated across from me. So the way they have placed and positioned their indoor seating further accentuates that gracious, yummy, leisurely feeling to it. Additionally, the chairs and booths are made of wood and leather. They are so comfortable and elegant. They are yummy to sit in. You feel like you are in a gracious non-snobby country club. Open to all. Come, sit, enjoy the gorgeous views and great food, sip a cocktail, relax and stay with us for a few hours.
This ambiance makes for a wonderfully romantic dinner.
Alternately, it is precisely the sort of feel I adore for a Sunday brunch. Brunch to me is one of those meals meant to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Perhaps I learned to nibble and eat slowly and just enjoy the food and the company when I was married to my late husband Jim Braswell who was from The South here in the United States. People in The South understand being leisurely and gracious. Grits, Bloody Marys, Eggs Benedict, and Coffee in a gracious context enjoyed at a leisurely pace makes for Sunday Brunch Nirvana.
Body Language Flirting Tip #1 – Flirting Environment
When you are flirting, your Flirting Environment is essential. Selecting a romantic context in which to set yourself for flirting either with your date or a Prospective Date (PD) at the bar or lounge area, is an essential component of successful Body Language Flirting. You are a jewel to sparkle, either as Jet or as a Diamond. Do pay attention to and carefully select the setting which offsets you to your best.
Body Language Flirting Tip #2 – Body Proximity
The next thing to think about and play with is Body Proximity. When you are with a Date, you will often start the date seated very Perpendicular to each other, squared off, sitting at strong right angles to each other. It’s not that you two aren’t close. It’s just when you first sit down, you are just starting the meal courtship. Over the course of the meal as you two converse, both look for and consciously purposefully construct that your Body Proximity starts to turn and turn towards and turn in on each other. You want to observe for this with the other to check for Rapport Building. When you and your date are in Rapport with each other, fostered and nurtured by conversation exchange not monologuing at each other in soliloquies, you will naturally turn towards each other to nearly face each other, in a sort of romantic Yin/Yang circle of Love. The unconscious mind does not entirely recognize, however, if this Body Proximity starts to occur nonconsciously, or it you choose consciously to slowly introduce and reinforce it. When you do that consciously, do so slowly over the course of a conversation so it weaves in naturally, not too obviously or harshly.
Body Language Flirting Tip #3 – Body Conversation Dancing
One attribute of successful Body Language Flirting is that of Body Conversation Dancing. Think of a good dance partner. Their frame is erect and supported, there is a light pressure against you. Their frame is firm and flexible. When you lean in, they lean back a touch. When you turn away, the move with you. So it is in our Body Language Flirting on a date. When we are in Romantic Rapport with another, we move our Body Language Signals in concert and in dialogue with them. We don’t just keep our bodies static in one position for 3 hours. We turn towards each other. Then we turn away and yet turn our torso and upper body back towards them in romantic dialogue expressed with our words as well as articulated with our Body Language Talking. Just as you want your conversation to be interesting, fascinating, and engaging, so you want your Body Language Flirting Signals to be engaging, enticing and entrancing with your date.
Brunch’s leisurely pace in a perfect environment to plant the seeds for romance and to do the dance of Body Language Flirting. Practice these 3 Body Language Flirting tips on your next date, and notice the difference it makes in your experience of shared romance. I bet you’ll enjoy better First Dates and go on more 2nd and 3rd dates with successfully practicing and using Body Language Flirting when you date!

I only wish I could find a restaurant like Parker’s here in Cincinnati. Though I now live in the Midwest, I am originally a Southerner myself and, like your late Jim Braswell, my wife and I do enjoy a leisurely brunch. For me, however, make mine Cheese Grits!
I love what you are doing here.

September 6, 2010 at 9:45 AMYes, you can’t beat a long, lesiurely meal with the person you love – although a long, leisurely meal by yourself is still great (and better than a quick, crappy meal at McD).
Finding good restaurants where they get every component right (e.g. the food, the atmosphere, the layout, the decor, the service, the setting) is really tough, so when you find one like Parker’s Lighthouse, it’s definitely worth bookmarking.

September 9, 2010 at 3:17 PMSo, April, it helps to flirt with other singles to get more dates?

September 9, 2010 at 7:26 PMI never thought of the flirting space but you are right. When you are cramped with tables it is harder to move around. You don’t want to keep bumping into the neighbor behind you.
