Top 3 Tips for Women Maximizing Your Look Fast!
This may not be news to you, but it is something to consider carefully. If your initial impression is that important, how do you want the world to perceive you?
Begin to think of your style expression as the cover of the book that is you. Have you ever been totally put off a book by poor cover art or disinterested in a book because it didn’t look like it was your type of story? Only to then read it and discover that you had completely misjudged the contents of the book? The same thing happens to you all the time based on what you are wearing and how you present yourself. If you are totally cringing at this, look at the flip side…you have a great deal of power to visually introduce yourself to people who do not know you.
No matter what style expression you land on as being the “you” you want others to see, there are three things that will maximize your image:
1. Be Clean and Neat
Above all, good grooming matters. Nothing is more off putting than someone who has poor hygiene. Present a pulled together image with clean hair, clean nails, clean clothes. Although quality of clothing IS important, cleanliness trumps brand name. Your designer outfit won’t count for much if it needs cleaning or repair.
2. Be Consistent
Don’t constantly change your “look”! You may feel like you have a whole host of “sides” to yourself that you want others to see, but people value consistency in others, and tend not to trust those who are too changeable. Avoid a schizophrenic closet and work instead on integrating these “sides” of yourself into one image that you can project consistently across the board, from work to casual, from day to night.
3. Ladies: Be Feminine
Research shows that men look at femininity as an integral of attractiveness…and so do women. This does not mean that you need to dress in pink frilly dresses, nor does it mean dressing in an overtly sexual manner. It does mean that you should seek to add feminine touches to whatever you are choosing to wear. Avoid the unisex look that is so popular nowadays…and soften up your corporate image just a touch.
Remember: Your personal style is reflected in what you actually wear. It’s not reflected in the clothes hanging at the back of your closet with the price tags still on, nor is it reflected in the piles of fashion magazines on your bedside table. Others don’t see your closet, they see YOU! Choose how you want the word to perceive you, and then dress accordingly!
