It’s midweek, and maybe you’re feeling bored at work and taking a quick break from your work routine and surf the Net for something to entertain you for a few minutes, and just maybe get some ideas for what to do this week.

How was last weekend? Was it all the rage and the bomb? Or was it more a of a bust?  Did you even go out, do something, hang with friends, or at least get out to attend something where you actually meet other singles?

Don’t tell me you just stayed home and watched tv. That’s why God gave us Hulu and Amazon Prime, so you can watch your favorite television shows On Demand according to your own schedule.  That means when it’s Friday and Saturday, you can best leverage that Prime Social time to get out of Dodge and meet new people.

Singles of all ages relate to me challenging stories of how difficult it for them to meet another quality single to date.  Definitely use online dating sites as one of the ways for you to meet eligible singles who are also looking for love.  However, internet dating should just be one of the many ways via which you meet relationship motivated singles.

Do continue to aim to meet singles out ITRW in offline in person interactive social settings. Sure, you might love the Opera, or perhaps you’re a Hollywood movie buff.  However, if you only pursue enjoying those hobbies and interests in a darkened theater or cinema, then you’ll be doing that alone for a long time.

You want to aim to create an active social life which has some vitality and momentum to itself.  Once you have your social life to where it is viable and then thriving, you will find you are receiving invitations from others who are hosting soirees, returning the social grace in response to the social occasions which you host.

Instead, start to build out your social life by focusing on the things you already love to do and endeavor a bit to find ways to maximize the socializing aspect of it.

Let’s take the example of you’re being an Opera fan. (Me, too.  My mother raised me going to the Metropolitan Opera company along with her. She inculcated for the taste and admiration of Opera, and indeed, as an adult, I love it, and when I’ve lived near an Opera company, I both subscribed and supported the art.)

Even if you don’t live in Dallas, New York, or San Francisco, you can still pursue your passion for Opera. Perhaps there is a local community Opera company where you live?

Look for when your Opera company is hosting its Audience Development events, purchase a ticket, dress up, and go!  Other Opera buffs will also be there.  Perhaps you’re straight and most of the others who show up are all members of the same gender you are.  That’s OK! You’re taking action and getting out there with implementation already makes you a successful single.

Now don’t just home triumphant in your implementation success. Instead, aim to make new friends with the others in attendance.  You already know what you have in common!  Aim to weave them into your social circle. Meet for dinner out in public at locations and venues where you’ll maximize your potentially meeting lots of members of the opposite sex.  If you’re a twenty something woman in the SoCal area, I’ll tell yah, I don’t know a twenty something year old guy who isn’t raving fan of Tommy Burgers.  Even if they are not your personal favorite, go eat there some weekday night after work before heading out with your girlfriends and you’ll likely meet some cute guys.

If the cinema is more your thing, then be on the lookout for more public venues with film screenings where you’ll have more of a chance to mingle a little bit with the other viewers of the movie.  Take a look at your area’s Public Libraries and Community Centers’ EVENTS calendars.

Many public libraries have theaters and auditoriums which they want the public to use.  Typically these screenings are free or are offered at a very low charge.

Get there early and mill about.  Be sure to bring a book from the library with a Large Print captivating title or a mesmerizing image on the cover placed on the seat next to you as your fascinating attention grabbing conversation started. Someone passing by will be just captivated by it and say something to you.

Shazam! You did it! That was the goal, to break the ice with others, meet new people, and aim to draw them into a conversation with you.

People you chat with, male or female, be sure to invite them to join you for a cup of coffee or tea in the area of your library where they have refreshments.  Exchange personal cards at the end of the evening.  You must aim for friends as well as life mates to build up a thriving social life.

Check out the online version of your local newspaper.  Investigate the social options at their calendar events. Most have a feature to help pull your attention into what you can do this weekend.  Ponder your options and be sure to select those which appear to offer the most mixing and mingling ability to maximize your time and money.

When you get out and aim to be friendly, you’ll always be met with a friendly response.
