Happy Easter: Dating Tips and Relationship Advise for Christian Singles
Christian Dating Expert Advice for Singles and Couples for Celebrating Easter to Enhance Their Relationships…
Happy Easter!
The Lord IS Risen.
The Lord is risen, indeed.
Alleluia
Alleluia
For Christians, many of us grew up reading, seeing, and uttering the responsive phrase.
It is very familiar and in a manner comforting.
Easter is a great day for Christian singles and married couples for connecting with people, both new people, and reconnecting with old friends.
The 10:00 am or 11:00 am ish services are often the best ones to attend. Just get there early. Many Christian churches have a pre-service event breakfast. Yes, they DO do this in order to welcome visitors. Hello. You can leverage it to MEET new people indeed. This is actually also a great time to look at the church’s activities calendar. Do they have any SINGLES or DIVORCED PEOPLE ministries? Outings? Events? Hiking groups? What about for those whose spouse died? A Widows/Widowers group? Even if you are not super Christian, frankly those can be great groups to socialize with somewhat to extend your own social group.
Some of those will cover Divorce Recovery or Grief Recovery Workshops which are the best out there anyway. AND you will be meeting new people.
Easter Afternoon:
Even the most DEVOUT denominations typically do NOT have evening services on Easter. They presumption is that you will be with FAMILY and Friends.
NON SECULAR ACTIVITIES FOR MARRIED COUPLES AS WELL AS SINGLES
Some non-denominational secular ways to celebrate the day include the Easter Bonnet Parade on Page Street in San Francisco. A marvelous older San Francisco gay tradition. Mainly gay men, but some lesbians have fabulous hats, too. Also afternoon dinner parties featuring campy Bunny Cakes reminiscent of growing up in the 1950s and 1960s for the Baby Boomers. Coconut flakes are optional. These are great to attend and be sure to each bring one new person to stretch and extend the social circle. That’s the point. To have fun AND meet new people.
NON GROUP ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES FOR SINGLES
If you don’t have a group to hang with, the restaurants, even in the “down” economy, will be pretty packed today. So, go to the ones which have COUNTER services. The national chain DENNY’S does. So do the MEL’s Diner of the San Francisco Bay Area (some, not all). And Nini’s on the San Francisco peninsula. NORM’s in SoCal.
When you are at counter service on a day like today you have THE PERFECT conversation opener with the people to your left and to your right and your server. “Happy Easter!” It is always helpful to have about 2-5 POLITE non-intrusive questions to ask strangers. “Do you celebrate Easter in your family?” Yes/No. Oh, how marvelous (Whatever their answer.) What one or two things do you MOST like to do to celebrate Easter? OR To celebrate the day non-religiously? (Something like that if they say no.) you are aiming for only about 2-5 sentences with them. If they are responsive, you can chit-chat for about 5 mins. Refrain from being super intrusive, especially if they are WITH someone. Although you can always ask HIM/HER the same questions. “What about you?” “oh really? how interesting…. tell me more… fascinating. How fun….” And you can always explain your sociability: I’m just visiting family in the area for the holiday… I’m new to the area…
Me? I’ve been attending church services. Today I will be celebrating the day with my middle sister and my cousins. We lured my CPA (beyond super busy man during tax season) cousin to the day by threatening to serve White Zinfandel with the Bishops Lamb… He winced and ASSURED us he would be there… and bring good wine! (If my cousin is attending the occasion and bringing the wine, YES, you WANT to attend. Trust me on this one.)
It’s unusual for more than 3 of the 6 of us to be able to be together all at one time. With most of the generations before us already gone, we treasure the times we ARE together.
I’ll take pix and share them in future blog posts.
“You’re vegetarian? I make you lamb.”
That’s how we’ll be celebrating the day.
Happy Easter to you and yours. And very happy intimately connecting relationships indeed.
