SoCal Single Scene: Christian Singles Evening “OC Singles for Christ”

Christian Singles Group Los Angeles, Singles for Christ Friday Night Single Social Event

In the Southern California Singles Groups scene, many singles have encountered that on one hand it is easier to find Singles Groups in SoCal by searching for them online.

However, at the same time, because of the internet and the preponderance of Online Dating sites, many of the former Singles Groups and Singles Ministries have folded or nearly discontinued.

I will be sure to discuss singles groups more in future articles here at my Dating and Relationships Blog.

For now, I am delighted to announce and promote a Christian Singles Ministry Group in the Beach Cities area of Orange County, CA in Southern California.  The Beach Cities area of SoCal is in the mid-section of The OC, and is still quite reachable for singles in both South LA County and San Diego County.

When you’re single and looking for love online as well as in person, it is important to keep in mind the Geographic Region in which you live as well as commute traffic flows.  For instance, when I lived and courted in the San Francisco Bay Area, the big consideration was not just, “How many miles do you live from me?”  It was also imperative to note how many of the 5 SF Bay Area Bridges had to be crossed.  How many commute passages did you have to navigate and pass through?  I can see I will need to discuss this in more detail as well.  For now, for Southern California Singles in Orange County areas, keep in mind that to date and court between South L.A. County, Riverside, or San Diego to The OC are all reasonable drives and courtship commutes.  Ventura County to Orange County is possible, but it would be a stretch every week.

Which leads me to announce that OC Singles for Christ ( #OCSingles4Christ ) is having another fun Friday get together for area Christian Singles on Friday, April 20, 2012.  There will be a dinner, Contemporary Christian/Rock Music style Worship Time, followed by breakout groups to study different Christian and Biblical topics together.

This week, the dinner is still just only $5.00 and is a Lasagna dish.  (I know, they got my attention immediately, too with offering Lasagna for just five bucks!) Green salad and garlic bread (bring your Altoid mints!) round out the meal which starts at 6:15 pm.

The worship time features a band this week, The Brett Williams Band.

  1. April,
I am amazed how professionally all of the singles dating events are organized. Job well done. I hope all will have fun and quality time.

  2. What a great opportunity to meet like minded singles and to see if the chemistry is there as well (my biggest problem with online dating).
    Sonya Lenzo

  3. How far am I willing to drive for Love!
And In my case, how far am I willing to drive to Band Practice?

  4. Wow April … great point about distance; love knows no bounds, but mileage counts. Before the Internet – I am revealing age – I met a princess in Chicago, where I lived at the time.

WHen setting up our first date, I got directions to her home … in Milwaukee, Wis …. That is how I learned to ask distance … wish your great singles dating and relationship articles had been available to me at that time.

    Regards
    Lyle

  5. Hi April!
For me it seems that I always look very far away! Too far…I will think next time the question you ask: how many miles…? and make my life easier!

  6. I love that you are always thinking…bring the altoids is right! I wonder, with your experience, do you find the atmosphere different from christian singles gatherings in comparison with gatherings not affiliate with religious backgrounds? Does one segment of the single population seek more serious relationships (ie. marriage) than others?

  7. Interesting consideration….with the ease of communicating on the Net, I can imagine when a date is agreed on that distance and travel could be a sudden shock.
It’s funny, I called my mother one time and she thought I was at home, about 9 miles away…….I was in Hong Kong adopting my daughter.
    Thanks for the perspective.
    Be Well.

  8. Hi April,
You always discover the amazing places to connect!
    Looking forward to tomorrow!

  9. Good advice on learning how far is a reasonable drive in the different California regions. The long time residents would likely know the geographic boundaries pretty well but newer residents might not have a clue.

  10. April,
today I listened to a program on the radio. It was about sure signs of a man never proposing. The first place is: he never wants to introduce his girlfriend to family. Is it true?

  11. Hi April,
Great site – I like the idea of geography. When I grew up in Holland, there was a saying: what you get from far is “tasty” (lekker), meaning that finding a partner far away is exiting. That came, I am sure from some of the close community thinking and in-breeding that tended to take place. Having said that – your reference to religious related single groups makes sense. What is a great determinant for success of a relationship in my couple counceling is the overlap of the value system. When coming from a similar background, that is more likely. Another component I see as important is the Love languages story. http://www.5lovelanguages.com/ . It is fashinating how little people pay attention to this / are aware and then end up finding out after the first 2 years, when the hormones start to settle down, that the fit is not that good.

  12. Sounds like a fun event. How many people find long-term relationships or even get married who go to these events?
