SF Singles Scene Spinsters of San Francisco Great Gatsby Launch Party

San Francisco Singles Scene Spinsters of SF Feb Soiree Great Gatsby Party

Whether you are a Single Guy or Gal in the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the most common concerns I hear from California’s sophisticated singles they want to know where and how to meet other quality professional singles.  Today’s savvy single has a career and a life and a very busy schedule.  You don’t have tons of time to devote to a frivolous social life like perhaps you did in your early 20s or even back in college.  I don’t know anyone over the age of 25 years old, let alone 35 years old and older who isn’t already fairly busy with their lives.  And yet they are also wanting to find that special lasting love relationship.

One of the most marvelous organizations exclusive to San Francisco and its unique SF Singles Social Scene is the Spinsters of San Francisco.  Each year, they select a local non-profit charity organization to raise funds on behalf of.  So, when you attend one of their fun social soirees, you always can rest assured that your ticket price is going to benefit a local charity.

This year the Spinsters of San Francisco have selected to benefit OASIS For Girls in San Francisco.

As you can imagine with the fun Great Gatsby theme for this San Francisco Singles Social Scene Soiree, attendees are encouraged to don 1920s, Jazz Era, Flappers et al. inspired fashions.  Don a Zoot Suit and long watch chain or your Flapper inspired mini-skirt, short heels, beads and bee-stung lipsticked lips, wearing something of a costume will just make the SF Social event all the more fun and festive for all attendees.  Plus doing so instantaneously equips you and everyone there with easy conversation openers and convo starters.

Cocktail Party Conversation Openers

  • “Oh my goodness, wherever did you find a Zoot Suit on such short notice?”
  • “I didn’t realize Flapper Beads came in green.  Why did you choose those?”
  • “How long have you been  member of San Francisco Spinsters?”
  • “What prompted you to want to join SF Spinsters?”
  • “Is that a ‘Confirmed Bachelor’ you’re drinking?”

Tonight the Pre-Party Launch is on at Per Diem in San Francisco.  Let’s get this party stared with some Charleston inspired music and outfits.  It’s all in good fun and your ticket purchase for Great Gatsby party benefits a local San Francisco charity. This years theme of Great Gatsby for their winter soiree encourages attendees to don 1920s themed inspired costumes.  Now, if you don’t have a Zoot Suit in your closet or a fringed mini-skirt, then at least aim for a few of your accessories to be Flappers, Bootleggers, and Jazz Era inspired.

Single Ladies Suggestion:

  • Cupid Bowed Red Glossied Lips a la Clara Barton
  • A long string of beads
  • Beauty marks
  • Flapper inspired headbands
  • Dropped waisted mini-skirted dresses, aka frocks

Single Men Suggestions:

  • Wear a suit
  • Don a white silk scarf
  • Wear a suit and sheik inspired head dress a la Rudolph Valentino in “The Sheik”
  • Wear a suit and dapper gentleman’s hat, a fedora or for that Princeton University Jazz Era crew regettas, a boater

How Wearing a Costume Helps to Break the Ice and Tips to Start a Conversation

One of the marvelous attributes of wearing anything which is remotely a costume is that your costume and accessories become your opening remarks, ice breaker, conversation starters.  You can both be the one to open the conversation with a flirtatious conversation starter remark and then a question, to help to keep the conversation flowing, by remarking on the outfit of someone else.  This need not be the exclusive social purview of the single menSingle ladies can do this as well to break the ice, and to put all of the single men who attend at their ease.  Sometimes single men won’t feel comfortable speaking to new women if they are not frequenters of the club scene. Ladies, throw him a bone.  Compliment on how marvelously dapper he looks in his suit, how much it accentuates his manly shoulder.  Flirt.  And then to lob the conversation ball into his corner and keep things going, ask him an opening question or two.  This gives him something to say, something specific to respond to.  Men are often men of action more than they are men of words.  If you don’t ask them a question, he doesn’t know what to say to you although he may really desperately want to talk with you but just doesn’t know how.

  1. What a fun sounding event!!!And I think that as I get older one of the most important things I look for in friends of both sexes is common values. So to meet someone at a charity event almost ensures that you are meeting someone who is CARING!
