For San Francisco Singles and San Francisco Conservatives, it’s that wonderful time of month again. It’s time for the SFYR Monthly Happy Hour. The San Francisco Young Republicans are a wonderful active group of conservatives meeting on a monthly basis for a fun time over an evening Happy Hour time slot. Each of the meetings features a topic, a club election, or an interesting and stimulating local conservative voice speaker on a topic of interest politically to San Francisco Republicans.
When they define themselves as being “Young Republicans,” that means that to hold an office in the club you must be under 40 years old. However, the Happy Hour meetings are open both to those of other ages (gasp, over 40 years old!) and non-club members. Their monthly meetings are marvelous. I can personally testify to this and attest to how they combine that fun and festive social environment with being intellectually and politically stimulating. I loved attending the meetings. They always had an awesome local edge to them which I really appreciated for how they could keep being relevant for local residents.
That said, because of the age group and the size of the membership, it always invariably has a number of single members. The size of the group of SFYRs was always small – medium. This meant it was always easy to meet just about everyone who attended the monthly SFYR Happy Hour meetings. And members were quite open to weaving new attendees and new members into our mutual social lives. Some of us would bop up to Napa Valley for wine tasting. There was always a group who would go to Jackson Arms and practice living out our Second Amendment rights.
The San Francisco Young Republicans are active in local, state, and national politics while always maintaining a socially warm connection among members. If you attend the Happy Hours repeatedly, not necessarily every month while certainly making a concerted effort to attend a number of times, they you will naturally forge new friendships and social ties.
This Tuesday’s January 2012 monthly SFYR Happy Hour meeting features local San Francisco Radio KSFO’s Conservative Talk Show Host, Brian Sussman as their special guest presenter. His second book, Eco-Tyranny
is due out on April 17 2012. I just added it to my Amazon wish list and will be pre-ordering it.
