SF Singles Events SFYR Monthly Mixer Tues Nov 15

After You Vote Nov 8, Attend SFYR’s Monthly Mixer Happy Hour at Unwind on Union Street

Whether you are single or married, if you live in the USA you probably already know that Tuesday, November 8th is election day in many of the states.  Remember to get out and vote.

Singles Dating Help: Meeting Your Neighborhood Residents at Your Polling Place

I find that when I lived in San Francisco and would vote at my local polling place in my hood that I would half run into other residents of the SF Neighborhood where I lived.  Invariably other local residents would go to their polling place either right after or just before heading over with MUNI buses.  So you can just in a very casual way without politicking meet others in your neighborhood.

If you vote just before work, you will likely see others walking over to the MUNI bus shelter to wait for their bus to work.  If you choose to cast your vote instead after work hours, then you’ll probably walk over from the MUNI stop to your polling place with others in your neighborhood.  You can just really casually pipe and say, “Hey, I’m bushed after work.  I’m planning on heading over to Unwind over on Union Street to grab a drink now that I’ve vote.  Would you like to join me?  I’ll buy the first round.”  Very easy and so low key.

Singles Dating Help: Conversation Starters After Voting at Your Polling Place

Just pray they are of the same political party that you are!  However, even if they are not, you can practice being a diplomat and simply inquire about their interests.  You can always softly hide behind not revealing too much by uttering a universally connecting comment such as, “I’ll sure be glad to stop receiving all of those Vote YES or Vote NO political flyers that have been filling my mail box this last week, won’t you?  Now I can get back to my main interests of….  [insert a few hobbies].  How about you?”

Now even if the person you’re talking to isn’t single, you’ll be expanding your social circle of those people you know who live in your neighborhood.  A study of people we wed, turns out many couples marry someone who lives within 4 miles from them.  So expanding your micro-local social connections can serve you well.  You never know who they know in their social circle.

Singles Dating Help:  Meet Your Fellow Republicans Next Week in Cow Hollow

Now if you are a Republican or anyone of the conservative ilk even if you are not officially registered as a Republican then do put a placeholder in your evening calendar for next week, Tuesday, November 15th and plan to attend the San Francisco Young Republican’s Monthly Mixer at Unwind on Union Street.  This month the SFYRs will be electing their officers for the 2012 Board.  SFYR membership is open to voters of any age.  However, to run or serve on the board of the Young Republicans you do need to be under 40 years old.

  1. A sly way to meet and greet. Only an internet dating and relationship expert woud think of this.

  2. Some of our voting stations are at schools , as we only vote on a Saturday in Australia , where the parents would have a food stall or two . Another place to mingle . By the way , voting is compulsory in Oz .

  3. Voting is also compulsory in Costa Rica. You actually get fined if you are a citizen and you do not vote. Isn’t that interesting. I also like the food stall idea that John mentions above….would make meeting and greeting that much easier!

  4. “Just pray that they are the same political party you are!” I can only imagine how a promising relationship could get derailed before it ever started if a political discussion from opposited positions were to kick off the relationship!
