Just a quick note as I am wrapping things up here in Santa Monica this morning and heading out on the road this afternoon to get back home to Silicon Valley sometime tonight after my late father’s death and memorial service.
Yesterday evening I had a wonderful time connecting with my siblings, rehashing some of the really dreadful stuff from our childhood, and wrapping things up. We have really moved on and well.
My brother said, “April, it’s not just great communication, it’s because we all have Christ now. We can actually forgive.” In fact, because of being Christian, we actually now value forgiveness. Still, with that, the junk and emotional baggage stuff has to be worked through. Some will say, “Oh, you have to forgive.” We do. But we also need to work through stuff or it’s just more STUFFING of the emotion, the crap, the terror, the fear, which leads to over eating, over buying, over consumption, over indulgence, never enough.
Indeed, we have LOVE in our hearts. For us being Christians mean we value that forgiveness, however, your faith or spiritual practice might be different, and that’s fine. For each other, for our parents. Now it is just this present generation and that is sad and poignant for us. But the joy is we DO have each other. We are all alive and healthy. We have really great connected relationships with each other. And will get another chance this morning to hug, kiss, and reiterate….
I Love You.
Hope you do the same with some of YOUR loved ones today.
Happy Dating and Relationships,
April Braswell
