Dating on Facebook Tips

Faux Pas, Foibles, and Frames for Dating on Facebook

Meeting Singles for Dating on Facebook and Business Networking

Be careful online.  It used to be in the early days of MySpace and Facebook that one of your core Facebook networks was the metropolitan area where you lived.  Back then, it was easy to locate singles in your area as well as potentially interesting people for business networking whom you could actually meet face to face in person.

Social Networking Valley:

In the big prominent internet metropolitan areas like Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco and Silicon Valley, business people did plenty of informal business networking via Facebook.

Back in the day, all you had to do was approach them respectfully, mention a prominent Silicon Valley corporate former employer and request an informational interview on a specific topic.  People were open to it and those who approached always did so graciously and professionally.

And boy did people meet!  Romances formed and singles courted and married.  Business people connected, exchanged useful information, and did business together.

Now that Facebook is huge, people’s networks are formed by their school and employer identifications.  No longer are you cited by your metro region network.  You need to go through Facebook Marketplace now instead or join your regions Group to connect with, friend, and meet your regional peers.

Yes, it’s still very social.  However, it is a vast website now.  You can still meet people at Social Networking sites.  But you really do want to move forward and proceed with caution.  Just like some of the niche market internet dating sites which filter on personal criteria and not on location, you can find yourself being approached by singles from around the country.

Happy Dating and Relationships,

It sounds like FB is a mixed blessing when it comes to dating – plenty of opportunities, but plenty of risks too.

Good points about how Facebook has changed as it’s gotten larger. I remember when you could find people by geographic area.

Helpful posting. Although I can declare your tips about facebook and wanting to be safe there really hit home especially with all the exposure facebook is getting in the movies.

Sadly, FB is dominated by two kinds – the needy and stalkers. Caution is the order of the day.

So how should a guy approach the beautiful single girls on facebook?

  • Kathlaine Skye March 28, 2011, 2:44 PM

My single girlfriends and I have problems with this with men all the time. What can we do to change that? There are those weird spamming men there at Facebook.

  • Rosario Luis April 4, 2011, 5:00 PM

April why do so many men approach me with form letters at facebook? I don’t trust it. I’m not sure if it’s spam or a fake person with just a guy who is shy with women. What do you think of those? What should I do?
