When you first meet a woman, like at a singles bar, in a sport bar, or in line at Starbucks, what are some tips for reading her body language flirting signals to tell if she finds you attractive and is interested in you?  As a dating and relationship expert, one of the frequent questions men ask me when I'm speaking on radio or at a conference is, "How can I tell if a woman is interested in me?"

Also, singles studies repeatedly show a lot of single woman want the man to initiate and ask them out on date and ask for their phone number.  Short of being the sexual aggressor, women often are looking for ways to clearly signal to a man that they are interested in and attracted to him.  Using Body Language Flirting is an excellent way to signal your romantic interest in a man without being the aggressor.  In fact, studies show that it is often the woman who first signals her attraction to a man via her body language.  However, it is then the man who follows up on her mating body language flirting signals in initiating a conversation with her, asking her for her phone number, and asking her out on a date.

What are some Body Language Flirting signals women use to show interest?

Eye Contact

Your parents probably told you as a child to look them in the eye when speaking to them.  Holding eye contact demonstrates respect to them.  Using eye contact we were programmed early in life demonstrates interest.  When a woman makes eye contact with a man who is a stranger, her body language very clearly speaks to him, "I find you interesting.  You have caught my interest." 

Now as a woman, it is best if she can hold eye contact with him, at the refreshment table at a cocktail party, at the bar while ordering her drink, or at the line either waiting to order her coffee or to receive her espresso drink. When you hold eye contact for more than 3 seconds, it is just past that politely looking at someone count of seconds. 1, 2, 3.  Men, when she is making eye contact with you, do feel confident in her interest in you.  Go ahead and open your mouth and say something to her to get the ball rolling.

Her Smile

While she is looking at you, many women while interested in you and attracted to you, will still instinctively look or glance down for an instant, being initially unable to maintain eye contact with a complete stranger.  Even when she finds you interesting and attractive, there is so much cultural programming in Western Culture for, "It's not polite to stare."  So, she might look away for a moment, even when she is interested in you. 

Keep looking at her to see if she looks back at you and tries to hold eye contact with you and if she smiles at you.  She might be feeling momentarily shy with you with making eye contact and yet she will still smile at you.  Her smiling at you is a body language flirting signal where the meaning is super clear, "I find you attractive!"

Do smile back at her while you make eye contact with her, approach her, and start talking with her. 

When you are a woman wanting to practice your Body Language Flirting skills, do combine making eye contact with a man for just over 3 seconds ( 1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, 3 one thousand... 4) and smiling at him.  Many men whether they consciously know this or not, will respond to your very clear body language signal of attraction and interest in him... and will then initiate saying something to you.

Self-Touch

Women will often touch their bodies more than men.  Whether the woman has long hair or short hair, if she starts any physical preening while conversing with you, pushing her hair behind her ear, touching her face, pushing her glasses up her nose, takes her sunglasses off, take her sunglasses off of her head, then her non-verbal body language signals are speaking of her interest and attraction to you. 

Some people have been mistakenly taught that when a woman removes anything in front of you, i.e. her sun glasses, that she is signalling her interest in taking off all of her clothes to you.  That would a mistake to read quite that much into the gesture.  At this point, she is just indicating initial interest and attraction.  Converse with her, ask her for her phone number and by all means ask her on a date.

Why It's Critical to Know What the Body is Saying

What people say could often be very different from what they're thinking or feeling. It's very easy to say something untrue or insincere, so we can never rely on words alone.

Are You Making These Mistakes In Body Language?

Studies indicate you have realistically closer to 4 seconds to make a good first impression on those you come in contact with. And this is used as a yardstick for all future communication by those whom you meet.

In the first four seconds, people will make judgments about you and tell themselves:

• I will (or will not) buy from this person.
• I will (or will not) like this person.
• I find this person kind (or not).
• I find this person intelligent (or not).

"But her arms are crossed, that's defensive," some might say. They are wrong. Head tilt to her left, hard time not grinning too big, while looking right at you. She likes you.

Flirting and sexual body language is something you can quickly spot in a woman's body language - as well as a man's - in both business and personal context.

Body language revealing the liar is easily identified in both business and personal context when you know how to properly interpret the signs. I'll show you this later.

Women inspect over their shoulders with curiosity...until that split second where liking or not occurs. These two will connect.....BELOW...I made judgments on the relationships of the couples based solely upon these photographs and the context in which they were taken. (This is as little as you have to go on with most media. It IS a challenge.)
